Steven R. McQueen about the Kiss

Vampire Diaries viewers got the kiss they've been waiting for on Thursday's episode. No, not between Damon and Elena — sorry, Delena fans — but Jeremy and Bonnie.
After a few will-they-or-won't-they scenes this season, Jeremy finally grabbed Bonnie and laid a big wet one on her — and she liked it."There's so much passion between them," Steven R. McQueen told TVGuide.com. "Even though Bonnie feels that it's not right and Jeremy's like, 'I don't give a s---,' eventually that passion got a hold of them and they give in to the temptation they've been holding back from."

So what will the fallout be for Elena, who will understandably find it awkward that her little brother is making out with her best friend?
"It will weird her out, but at the end of the day, she's running from Klaus!" he says.
As for McQueen, he didn't find the kiss strange at all: "You know, I didn't hate it."

Michael Trevino Interview - Tylers Goodbye!

If you've been following-slash-stalking "The Vampire Diaries" star Michael Trevino on Twitter (guilty), you may have noticed that he's been spending an awful lot of time not filming the show. His absence from Atlanta became clear in Thursday night's new episode, "Crying Wolf," in which Tyler decided to leave Mystic Falls behind and fall in with Jules (Michaela McManus) and the wolf pack.

Yes. We cried. Shut up.

We know what you're wondering: Is Tyler coming back? The answer is a definite maybe. He wasn't killed off, which is a good sign for us Tyler fans. Plus, we can assume that breaking the werewolf curse is still a priority.

Trevino visited us at Zap2it to discuss the circumstances of Tyler's grand exit. "It was just too much for him," Trevino says. "Too many cooks in the kitchen, really, because everybody was just trying to get in his head. He's still really lost at that point, and very vulnerable. He needed to leave."

There will be another full moon in Mystic Falls before the end of the season, but the question remains as to whether Tyler will be around for the big night. "We've told the transformation story already," executive producer Julie Plec says. "Now he's moving on to the next part of his journey, which is, "How do I live like this for the rest of my life?" The way that it all fell out, the first part of Tyler's journey ended right when we had a lot to focus on with Elijah and the witches and imminent arrival of Klaus, so we figured it was a good time to give him that hero's goodbye."

When Plec and Kevin Williamson sat down with Trevino to fill him in on his character's fate, it came as a bit of a surprise to him, too. "I knew that there was going to be this battle with the vampires and the werewolves, I knew that somebody was going to have to go," Trevino says. "And when they said it was going to be me, I was kind of like, 'Okay... interesting.'"

It's clear he's not particularly psyched about his extended vacation (hey, the guy loves his job), and he's genuinely just as curious as we are about if and when Tyler will come back into town. "Now my mind's going crazy because I'm wondering what's in store now. When and if Tyler were to come back, either at all, or this season, or maybe he doesn't come back until Season 3 - how's he going to be? How much of a changed person is he going to be?"

Because of the firestorm of vampire vs. werewolf activity in town, Tyler hasn't had much time to mourn for his Uncle Mason, who died at the hand of Damon (Ian Somerhalder) -- literally -- while Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) stood by.

McQueen tells us that he's hoping that Tyler's return also brings back the precarious friendship that was beginning to forge between Tyler and Jeremy. "I really hope that eventually their friendship will blossom again," McQueen says. "Seeing Mason die was a big moment for Jeremy. The only other time he's seen someone die, it was Vicki, and his memory of the night was erased. Seeing Mason killed was the first time that he was part of something that his family legacy really calls for. So there's definitely a lot left to explore for Tyler and Jeremy, and I do hope we see it eventually."

And then, of course, there's Caroline (Candice Accola). Tyler and Matt (Zach Roerig) shared a touching moment before Tyler split. "She loves you, and she needs you," Tyler said. "And to be honest, she deserves someone like you, so you be good to her. Okay?"

We love Tyler and Caroline together, but it's hard to deny the instinctive antagonism between vampires and werewolves. When we ask Trevino if he thinks Caroline is better off without Tyler, he hesitates, before finally saying, "Yes. Yes, I do."

What!? Is Trevino the newest member of Team Matt? Kind of. "I think Matt will balance her out. The thing is, I don't know how she would ever tell him, if she even does tell him. Does she just keep it a secret from him? We know she likes to keep secrets," he says. "Yeah, she's better off with Matt, for balance. It would've been nice, for a vampire and a werewolf [to have a] legit relationship, to see if that would even be possible, but then again, who knows? Tyler's gone, when he comes back, maybe he's going to pursue her again."

We're not sure that Tyler will be feeling particularly amorous if and when he does return to Mystic Falls. From what we know of Jules, Tyler is in for a lot of life changes -- and if we see him again, he's going to be very different from the friendly teenage werewolf we know and love.

Trevino is hoping that when Tyler returns, he'll have matured significantly... even if that means turning against his friends. "If you're a werewolf and you're only going to stick with werewolves, then be that way. If you can't be friends and you have to 86 a few people out of your life, then do that," he says. "I just want him to pick a side and not do both."

After all, Tyler's biggest goal right now is to avoid transforming again. To do that, he needs to break the curse... which means sacrificing Elena. Though Plec doesn't say whether Tyler will return, she does tell us, "As long as the curse is still in play, Tyler has unfinished business."

Tyler remains one of the few characters on the show without an inherent need to protect Elena at all costs. Tonight he proved that he's willing to go to some seriously dangerous lengths to break the curse, though he did have a change of heart in the end. Should we be worried about him returning as a villain?

"You might," Trevino says. "The thing we have to ask now is where is he going, what is he doing, and who is he with? So, when he comes back, what has he been up to? Is he coming back for vengeance? Would he come back to break this curse? Or, would he come back to make peace and see if they can all coexist within Mystic Falls?"

Peaceful coexistence in Mystic Falls? Right.

Weigh in on "Crying Wolf" in the comments section below, vamp fans -- we're dying to hear what you thought of the episode. I'll have my recap up shortly, but in the meantime, don't miss the video interview with Trevino for more on Tyler's big goodbye and his summer plans.

Daniel Gillies 'Elijah' Interview [Spoiler Alert!]

You make Elijah look so sweet that you don’t even want to dislike him, but he rips hearts out! The calm and collected bad guys are the scariest.
I never wanted to play him with any menace... He’s not a sweet person, [but] can you imagine if you’ve lived this long? He must have seen so much death, murdering someone must be like hitting a bug... I’m so lucky to play this character. Maybe that’s the joy you’re sensing... I love playing him. He’s so fun.

You and Nina Dobrev work extremely well together.
From the moment I walked on set, she was just immediately kind to me. It doesn’t happen that often. It’s the nicest crew and cast ever... Nina, she’s what? 21? I’m 34... She’s smarter than me. And boy does she work hard, she’s playing both roles. She’s there every day and she doesn’t bitch, and she’s tough and she knows she has a great thing. She cares and she always has a sense of humor. She’s just vicious and she rips on me. We tease each other all day and I think it reads in the performance.

Last week, we saw Dr. Martin take down a pack of wolves to save Elena’s friends. Does that make it safe to say Elijah wasn’t lying about his deal?
Yes, he’s clearly orchestrating these things. That was his mayhem. He’s acting as a godfather at this point... He’s ultimately playing chess with these kids.

Have you met Joseph Morgan? Are you excited to see what he’ll bring to the table as Klaus?
I haven’t. I’ve seen a little bit of his stuff, but I don’t know enough about Joseph to make a comment. I’m excited that there’s the idea that there could be a war between us, because I think that would be the most exciting thing in this show, like an exponential curve at the end of the second season.

Does Elijah know Isobel?
He’s aware of everybody. That’s the thing about Elijah, the only thing that slipped through the cracks was the potential of this doppelganger... The moment there is information to be had, he’ll have it. Nobody will be better researched or more equipped.

Will we see Isobel again this season?
They give me the script right before I film, and I have not seen any Isobel.

Any spoilers for the rest of the season?
Damon has been pissing me off lately, so I’ll give him a slap on the wrist if he gets too close. It’s funny; I’m talking as Elijah now. Elena is going to be in danger if they don’t do what I decree must be done. Also, I like the look of the Jenna girl, she looks sweet. I’ll go hang out with her for a while, she’s cute.

What else do you have in the works?
I’m finishing up post production on a movie called Broken Kingdom, which I performed in, wrote and directed. My wife, [Rachael Leigh Cook] stars in it as well, and it’s a very different role for her. She plays a real woman.

Steven R. McQueen about Bonnie, Jeremy & Klaus

Quantrell D. Colbert/The CW
There comes a time on every vampire-themed show when a character stops cowering in the corner, pulls on a pair of big-boy pants and starts kicking some ass.
That time has come for Jeremy Gilbert, says the devilishly cute Steven R. McQueen, who was kind enough to let us in on his character's upcoming storyline. And guess what? It's about to be kicked up a notch.
And that notch-kicking starts as soon as this Thursday.

MORE:The Vampire Diaries: Tyler Talks Kissing Caroline and Trouble Coming to Town
"The next episode is a big one for Jeremy," Steven tells us. "Bonnie (Katerina Graham) and Caroline (Candice Accola) start getting involved and start taking action in trying to find out what's going on with Klaus and what problems are starting to head their way." OK, Bonnie and Caroline get involved with some Klaus drama. But why is next episode a big one for Jeremy? Thankfully, Steven elaborated.
"Jeremy goes from cowering in the corner to an annoying little gnat," he laughs. "There's always something going on, and Jeremy is curious and quick-witted. He has strength of will that most people don't have. And I feel like a gnat because I'm very involved in the situation and I usually cause trouble."
So, Jeremy isn't exactly arming himself with sawed-off shotguns and hopping on motorcycles to battle evil vampires, but Steven would be more than happy to take on that kind of role. "I'm not against that idea by any means!" he says excitedly. "That's up to [show runners] Kevin [Williamson] and Julie [Plec]. Of course I'd love to get a sawed-off shotgun and put my kickboxing training to good use and go for it. But at the end of the day, that's not my call to make."

Kickboxing? Oh, this we gotta see. Memo to The Vampire Diaries powers that be: Let's put Steven in a leather jacket, throw him on a motorcycle, and make him a hero like his famous grandfather! Then again, Jeremy might be too busy dealing with the biggest, baddest vampire coming to Mystic Falls.

"Klaus is the most powerful vampire there is. He has power over every other vampire and he can compel every vampire," Steven says. "He's the guy with all the power. And his intentions aren't all that great. He's trying to sacrifice someone in my family and I don't want that to happen. We're trying to do everything we can to stop it."

"We" as in...Jeremy and Bonnie? Those two have had some cute little moments in recent episodes, and when we asked Steven if we're ever going to get more than just moments, he responded with some good news for Jeremy-Bonnie fans. "I think when she's at ease he shows extreme respect for her interests, and when Jeremy sees something he wants, he goes for it," he tells us. "I like this next episode that's coming up, and after that a lot of the Bonnie-Jeremy stuff."

Prepare for more Steven R. McQueen on your screen, TVD fans! We doubt any of you will have problems with that. Would you like to see Jeremy be more of a badass? Or should he leave that up to the experts? Let's discuss and speculate, shall we?
